This lab allows students to apply their knowledge of osmosis to compare the sucrose content of sweet potatoes and white potatoes. Students will soak pieces of potato in sucrose solutions of various concentrations. After calculating and graphing the potatoes’ percent change in mass, students will use their data to draw conclusions about sucrose concentrations in the two different plant cell types.
