OSU Healthy Youth Program: Plant Parts We Eat
Although designated as a kindergarten lesson, this activity can easily be scaled to be used in the pre-k classroom, allowing students to work in small-groups or facilitating the lesson as a whole-group discussion. Through this lesson, students will sort commonly eaten fruit and vegetables into categories based upon the part of the plant that is eaten. Prior to attempting this lesson, students must have a clear understanding of the parts of a plant (root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit and seeds). It is recommended that you use the attached images below.
